Dear Current & Prospective Youth Orchestra Members,

We are very excited to be on the verge of a new year, and hope you are enjoying a fun and music-filled summer!

Please find below the most up-to-date audition information.  If you have not already submitted your membership application and dues, please do so as soon as possible so as to not jeopardize your membership in the organization. If you need an application, please email gspyouth@gardenstatephilharmonic.org or call the office at 732.451.0064

If you need to set up an audition time, please call us at 732.451.0064 so we may schedule your time and review the guidelines with you.

AUDITION CHECKLIST

1.  Youth Orchestra Membership Application 

2. Membership Fee:  Membership Fee Information will be posted shortly.  Please check back to this page periodically for updates.

3.  Youth Orchestra Attendance Policy:  Please submit the OFFICE COPY and keep the STUDENT COPY for your records. 

4. Audition Guidelines:  Please check the Audition Guidelines section below to download audition guideline documents for your ensemble.

5. Audition Excerpts:  Please print the Audition Excerpt for the Ensemble & Instrument for which you are auditioning.  Please refer to the Audition Guidelines for more information. [Scroll down to download audition excerpts]

• Date and Time: September 15, 2008; 5:30-9:30 p.m.
  

• Location: Toms River Intermediate North

 

AUDITION GUIDELINES

• String Ensemble (SE)

• Concert Youth Orchestra (CYO)

• Symphonic Youth Orchestra (SYO)

 

AUDITION EXCERPTS

To download guidelines and excerpts from this page, click the link for your instrument from one of the ensembles below.

String Ensemble (6th grade and under):

• Violin I

• Violin II - All violinists should prepare the Violin II excerpts. Violinist auditioning for Violin I placement must also prepare the
  Violin I excerpts.

• Viola

• Cello

• Bass - NO EXCERPTS

 

Concert Youth Orchestra (7th & 8th grades):

• Violin I

• Violin II   - All violinists should prepare the Violin II excerpts. Violinist auditioning for Violin I placement must also prepare the Violin I excerpts.

• Viola  

• Cello

• Bass  

• Winds and Brass - NO EXCERPTS

 

Symphonic Youth Orchestra (9th through 12th grades):

• Violin I

• Violin II - All violinists should prepare the Violin II excerpts. Violinist auditioning for Violin I placement must also prepare the Violin I excerpts.

• Flute

• Oboe

• Clarinet

• Bassoon

REHEARSALS

 All rehearsals are on Tuesdays.

String Ensemble: 6:30 - 8:00 PM at Toms River Intermediate North

Concert Youth Orchestra: 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Toms River Intermediate East 

Symphonic Youth Orchestra: 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Toms River Intermediate East (strings only)

First rehearsals will be on September 30th for each ensemble.
